On Thursday, April 28, 2022, Biotech Connection Los Angeles (BCLA) hosted our first networking mixer of the year at LA BioSpace on the campus of Cal State LA in LA’s eastside. Over 70 attendees from academia and industry communed over light refreshments to network and learn about the new life sciences incubator space and the changes that are taking place within the bioscience ecosystem in Los Angeles.
The mission of LA BioSpace is to promote a thriving bioscience ecosystem in the heart of Los Angeles, providing emerging entrepreneurs with facilities, resources, training and knowledge to launch startup ventures and spur regional economic development. Attendees had the opportunity to tour the 20,000 square foot facility spanning two floors, which offers collaborative office space, wet lab and dry lab benches, microscopy rooms, conference rooms, and storage rooms. Those looking to launch startups have the option to rent a desk in a coworking environment to a single bench to a secure private wet lab suite, and can also access common state-of-the-art equipment such as freezers, centrifuges, and ovens. We look forward to seeing the growth LA BioSpace will bring to the booming biotechnology ecosystem in LA and following the companies that emerge from their cultivation hub.
We would like to thank the staff and portfolio companies at LA BioSpace for hosting this networking mixer with us, as well as our event sponsor Takeda for making this event possible. We would also like to thank all attendees for supporting our programming and we look forward to seeing you at our future events!
