BCLA brings Alex Kopelyan from IndieBio to Los Angeles

On Friday, March 22nd, BCLA welcomed Alex Kopelyan, program director and partner at IndieBio to UCLA for a lunch seminar. The event was attended by a great diversity of people, including investors, scientific professionals, entrepreneurs and start-ups. Alex started the program with a keynote presentation on the background, mission and successes of the accelerator’s portfolio. A strong focus of the presentation was to introduce attendees to the benefits of IndieBio, how they can help to streamline and push start-ups through their first year and why they differentiate from the competition in the accelerator space. Throughout the presentation, Alex gave examples of companies showcasing the diversity and breadth of start-ups that have succeeded in their program.

After the presentation, there was time for a Q&A session where attendees were able to put their burning questions to Alex, not to mention to enjoy the last of the pizza and drinks available! Following the Q&A session, pre-selected attendees who had submitted a start-up pitch deck, moved to the presentation space at UCLA’s CNSI with Alex, where they had the fantastic opportunity to get invaluable feedback on their start-up ideas and strategies. This part of the event allowed aspiring entrepreneurs to directly connect with IndieBio and be on the accelerator’s radar!

BCLA would like to thank both Alex Kopelyan and IndieBio for their contributions to this great event, and our attendees for submitting some exciting pitch-decks! If this program or other BCLA events have helped, inspired or propelled your business or career forward, we want to know! E-mail us at team@bc-la.org with your story, we would love to share it on our website.
