Employers and Jobseekers Converge At Bioscience Career Connections

biotechconnections

On Tuesday April 19, over 100 guests attended BCLA’s career fair “Bioscience Career Connections” at the University Park Campus at USC. The event received great reception as workshops, talks, and networking opportunities filled the entire day.

In the morning, attendants packed the Ray R. Irani Hall lecture room to hear a brilliant and engaging Interview and Résumé/LinkedIn Workshop, presented by Zach Marks, Co-Founder and COO of Oystir, Inc. Mr. Marks offered his suggestions for interviews and résumés such as “Do’s and Don’ts,” and answered an array of audience questions, all tailored for those seeking careers in research and biotech.

During the afternoon sessions, guests had the chance to visit our sponsors’ tables to network and learn about the current job opportunities available at each company. Some companies also gave a brief talk, highlighting their biotech business and shedding valuable insight to interested jobseekers. The afternoon also featured an on-site resume editor from the USC Career Center and a networking mixer, allowing people to unwind after a productive day, while chatting with peers and employers alike.

We would like to thank all the attendees and the following companies for their participation and support of our event: Episona Inc., Gilead Inc., Keck Graduate Institute, KitePharma Inc., LA BioMed, One Lambda | Thermo Fisher Inc., USC Career Center, and Xencor Inc. We look forward to hosting more events like this in the future with even greater networking opportunities!
