About the Role
Sorriso Pharmaceuticals seeks an experienced and highly motivated Research Scientist to join
its team at its research laboratory at the Magnify Incubator on the UCLA campus, Los Angeles,
California. The individual will be responsible for in vitro and ex vivo pharmacology assay
execution and data analysis for multiple programs. Day-to-day activities will include running
biochemical and biological assays examining protein expression and function, analysis of the
resulting data, and communication of results. Responsibilities will also include new assay
development and protocol writing, management of relationships with contract research
organizations, academic groups, consultants and future supervision of internal staff. The
successful candidate will need a self-starting attitude and be willing to take on a broad variety
of tasks within a highly dynamic working environment. The successful candidate will enjoy working with Sorriso’s small but highly experienced team, gaining hands-on experience of all
aspects of biologic drug discovery and development from bench to clinic.

BS or MS, with 7+ years of industry experience, or PhD in biochemistry, pharmacology, immunology or a related field of biology
Experience with both basic and advanced laboratory methods and technologies including:
Protein engineering, expression and biochemical analysis (e.g. ELISA, Western blot, multiplex protein analysis)
Mammalian in vitro cell culture and cell-based immunology functional assays (e.g. microscopy, PBMC isolation, proliferation, flow cytometry, cytokine production)
Assay design and development to support lead selection and activity confirmation
Some experience with the design and analysis of in vivo model systems and molecular biology techniques including cloning, qPCR and gene expression analysis would be ideal
Excellent problem-solving skills in assay design, data analysis and interpretation
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including presentation and technical report preparation
Self-motivated team player with the ability to prioritize tasks and someone who thrives in a dynamic working environment with a flexible scope of responsibilities.
Fluent in data analysis software (Graphpad Prism etc) and use of electronic lab notebooks
Experience managing external collaborations
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
