In our efforts to reach new audiences we held a networking mixer in Pasadena on January 31st at a beautiful space generously provided by Studio 55, ADP Innovation Center. This was the second time we organized an event in Pasadena, and just like before this event quickly reached capacity with more than 120 attendees gathering to network and hear presentations by our event sponsors. Attendees represented different sectors with many industry professionals, biotech leaders and people from academia.
Spotlight presentations started with a short introduction about Biotech Connection Los Angeles, our mission and our upcoming events from Evgeny Bondarenko, BCLA president. Brittney Sabbah, Innovation Activation Manager from JLABS (Johnson & Johnson Innovation) followed and spoke about technical and funding resources that JLABS provide to emerging start-ups as well as established companies.
Next, Howard Xu, our close partner and founder of LA Biostart, gave a brief talk about their Bioscience Entrepreneurship Bootcamp and introduced previous and current bootcamp participants in the audience.
The fourth spotlight presentation was Wen Dombrowski who introduced her company Catalaize, described their mission to advise and connect technology innovators, investors and health industry representatives and also presented products that they have helped launch.
Finally, Christy Conner from ADP, the hosts of the event, gave a short presentation about their company, the largest provider of payroll and HCM solutions in the US.
After the spotlight presentations attendees continued networking and building connections with fellow bioscience professionals. Encouragingly, most attendees did not want to leave and continued chatting in the corridors after the mixer concluded!
